SPERS Overview: 

The School Placement Exercise for Returning Singaporeans – Secondary (SPERS-Sec) is a centralized posting exercise conducted around September or October each year for Returning Singaporeans who wish to join secondary schools at Secondary 1, 2 and 3 at the beginning of the next academic year. There are two chance to register for SPERS, once in July for September SPERS exam and another one in November. 

Returning Singaporeans who are unable to return by September/ October each year may apply for the Supplementary Placement Exercise that will be conducted on December each year and application will open in October/ November each year.


Applicants will be able to indicate a maximum of six schools options in their online school forms, in order of preference. The options can only be based on the list of eligible schools provided to them in mid-January each year. Applicants are not allowed to choose other schools outside of the eligible schools list. Reporting to the successful school will be in the following year. Do check with MOE for the latest updates. 

Applicants should be familiar with the English and Mathematics syllabi of the level preceding the one they are applying for. E.g. Applicants applying for SPERS Secondary 1 should be familiar with Primary 6/ PSLE Syllabi.
